FERIADO (a coproduction between AbacaFilms, Luna Films, and Argentinean Cepa Audiovisual) will have its World Premiere at the Prestigious Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). Feriado, directed by Diego Araujo becomes the first Ecuadorian movie to be officially selected by the Berlinale to compete in one of its sections: Generation. Here’s the Official Press Release.

In late 2013 Berlin-based sales company M-Appeal acquired world sales rights to the movie. Earlier during the same year, FERIADO became one of the six Latin American movies selected for Ventana Sur’s Primer Corte (curated by Georges Goldenstern of Cannes Cinefondation). The movie has also been part of the selection for the 2013 Work in Progress sections at the Havana Film Festival and the Riviera Maya Film Festival, and won the Work in Progress award at the Festival de Cine Orquidea in Ecuador. In its development phase, FERIADO was awarded by the Tribeca Film Institute, and received support from Programa Ibermedia, CNCine Ecuador, the Latino Film Fund, Huelva Film Festival Coproduction Forum, FICValdivia’s AustraLab, Oaxaca Screenwriting Lab, and PUENTES Workshop.
The crew of FERIADO includes director of photography Magela Crosignani (RUTA DE LA LUNA, MOSQUITA y MARI), art director Roberto Frisone (CRÓNICAS, MONO CON GALLINAS), music composer Daniele Luppi (MALOS HÁBITOS). The main actors of the film are Juan Manuel Arregui and Andrés Paredes.
